Song Lyrics: New Rules by Dua Lipa

One, one, one... Talkin' in my sleep at night Makin' myself crazy (Out of my mind, out of my mind) Wrote it down and read it out Hopin' it would save me (Too many times, too many times) My love, he makes me feel like nobody else Nobody else But my love, he doesn't love me, so I tell myself I tell myself One, don't pick up the phone You know he's only calling 'cause he's drunk and alone Two, don't let him in You'll have to kick him out again Three, don't be his friend You know you're gonna wake up in his bed in the morning And if you're under him, you ain't gettin' over him I got new rules, I count 'em I got new rules, I count 'em I gotta tell them to myself I got new rules, I count 'em I gotta tell them to myself I keep pushin' forwards, but he keeps pullin' me backwards (Nowhere to turn) no way (Nowhere to turn) no Now I'm standing back from it, I finally see the pattern (I never learn, I never

Throwback: Sleepy Zonk - One Half Firang Politician Stewed and Nettled

Note: Written August 15, 2010; #TBT the time I saw RG IRL. It's not everyday of your life that you see a damned famous politician with an even more famous history get pissed off just because somebody had the balls to criticize, in detail, the working of his organization, as it was a couple of years ago. But you really have to hand it to the guy for converting like EVERY fucking thing that was said today by anybody who was not NALSAR the dog into potential votes. Small wonder the LTTE 'representative' sitting beside me was pissing her pants in fury. =) I kind of floated through most of today in a sleep deprived Zonked Zone, just because I got up after only 3 hours of sleep so I could have the luxury of a 45 minute shower. I did wake up briefly to do the preliminary round of the most sadistic quiz I have ever seen. Indeed, the answer to the first question was Sadism and Masochism, so go figure. "Suffering may well build character, but you won't be able to enjoy t

Crosspost: The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

Crossposted from Feminist Quill , written on September 24, 2015 Title:  The Handmaid's Tale Author:  Margaret Atwood Year of Publication:  1985 Series:  N/A Goodreads Rating (Avg.):  3.99   Goodreads Rating (Mine): 5 Plot Description: In a dystopic world ravaged by pollution and sexually transmitted diseases, infertility is the second biggest problem faced by what once used to be the United States of America. The biggest problem is the Religious Right, although they probably don't see it that way. Offred, the eponymous protagonist, is a part of one of the Gileadean empire's greatest schemes to combat infertility - that is to say, the imprisonment of women of child bearing age and their subsequent induction into sex slavery as Handmaids. The Handmaids are surrogates to the infertile wives of rich and powerful (and ever fertile) men deemed worthy of this shot at reproduction. This review falls smack dab in the middle of my reviewing of the  Shifter  series

DD: Company Law V - The Process of Company Formation

The process of company formation can be divided into three stages: Promotion Incorporation by Registration Commencement of Business Promotion:  The process of conceiving an idea and developing it into a concrete proposition or project to be accomplished by the incorporation and floatation of the company. The person taking the necessary steps to accomplish these objectives is known as  promoter.  [S. 2(69), Indian Companies Act, 2013]  People in accordance with whose advice, directions or instructions the Board of Directors of the company is accustomed to act  are also treated as promoters.  A director/ officer/ employee who has control over the affairs of the company, directly or indirectly whether as a shareholder, director or otherwise  is considered a promoter. In  Kelner vs. Baxter LR  (1886) 2 CP 174,  it was held that the company couldn't ratify contracts made by a promoter before incorporation. However, specific performance of a contract may be enforced against

Your Guardian Angel

Written November 27, 2010 Who stands guard over your dreams? Each time you close your eyes Not long ere the night folds her cloak And dissolves into the rays of dawn Who watches over you in her every thought? As late at night you roam the city Immersed in things of small import Leaving no thought astray for the wings That shield you from harm's way Who dreams of you every night? And falls asleep in your arms Who smiles a secret smile at the mere Mention of your name? Who attempts to divine from your words? Your thoughts, your mood, your feelings today Who is the one that yearns to comfort You in her arms as you fight for acceptance Reading from your stubborn brow The pain of rejection you seek to ignore The only one allowed to hurt you She lets false words fall from her lips See in her eyes a deceptive hate Lest your heart freeze in pain or fear For it's the chasm that yawns beneath your feet That bears the brunt of her fury The reason why she runs further each time She feels

The Clamour of War

Mazha - Rain: A Poem by Kamala Surayya

Throwback: Three Days Into Adulthood

Written August 12, 2010 "With great power comes great responsibility." ~ The Green Goblin,  Spiderman Losing your phone is the most annoying thing that can happen to anyone who really cannot live without theirs. Not really being used to walking around looking like I've got a sleek metal thingy growing out of one ear, I was mostly fine. But just at the first, there was this feeling of being incredibly vulnerable and naked. In such cases, it's very good to have 20 year old dudes buy you shoes. Two pairs of shoes at that. It doesn't really matter that you ' cruelly'  dump them a couple of days later. I mean, max everyone decides that you're a bitch via any of the following logical reasoning: (a) You should have given it a shot. For at least a trimester. (b) You shouldn't have led him on for a week. Why didn't you say no in the beginning? I mean, like he wouldn't have been depressed if i'd said no in the beginning. Also,

DD: Company Law IV - Classification

Companies can be classified by the manner in which they are limited into: Shares:  A registered company, whether public or private, having  the liability of its members limited by memorandum to the amount, if any, unpaid on the shares  respectively held by them. Guarantee:  A registered company having the liability of its members limited by its memorandum  to such an amount as the members may respectively undertake by the memorandum to contribute to the assets of the company  in the event of its being wound up. Unlimited:   A company not having any limit on the liability of its members.  Maximum liability in such cases can be to the full extent of their properties, to meet the obligations of the company by contributing to its assets. Angel By The Fountain

Written November 11, 2010 By this fountain of memories I stand And watch again as the angel of my heart Steps forward in a transfigured form The same girl and yet not the same I and she are halves to the whole Where she’s complete, I lack What I have fulfilled she has not When she wasn't here; a hole In my heart, a cavernous nether land Of sadness and fear When she came, the pain Lifted and yet intensified The tears I shed were for The time we had left She’s every beat of my heart The pulse of my life; the sunlight That shines in a remote corner of my life Another day will come around And I’ll embrace you with tears in my eyes Another day when as phantoms Our memories come alive again in us

Plot Description:    The powerful matriarch of a wealthy business family (they sell sweets) has suffered a strke, and lies dying.  Aftertaste  is the story of how her children and her children-in-law deal with her impending death, while also fending off personal troubles of their own. In addition to metaphorical interpretations, the title also directly refers to the theme of Indian sweets that runs through the book in the form of the Todarmal's business. The one word I'd use to describe this book is "stark". Stark as in "stark reality". Stark as in "
