Still Here? How?

Image
Photo by  William Isted  on  Unsplash I wanna say I had a productive social media cleanse, but considering it was punctuated by horrifying real life situations, I'm not so sure it comes out to a net win.

Circling

Image
Photo by  ActionVance  on  Unsplash Therapy can be frustrating for multiple reasons. On the one hand, you have to talk about things you really don't want to talk about. You have to talk about them to someone else, when you won't even give them thought-form inside your own head. Trying to get past that means turning on honest-mode no matter what, which can lead to... blabbering. Because you're so uncomfortable, and now you're forcing yourself to talk and god knows what the hell you're saying anymore. Yes, I'm confusing myself AND my therapist. That's great. But as I said during the session today, I want to write things down so that they may be made sense of. If I'm being honest, I would rather NOT be the person who has to go back and make sense of this stuff. I would rather NOT be in touch with some of my thoughts? Why is that though, because I've been telling myself that I have no thoughts I'm ashamed of - I accept myself, flaws an...

DD: Management

The need for management arises because to maintain effectiveness alongside minimum adverse consequences, group efforts are properly organized, directed and coordinated. The group of people who accept the responsibility of running an organization and directing its activities form the management of that organization. Objectives of management: Achieving maximum output with minimum effort optimum use of resources  maximum prosperity  human betterment and social justice  Schools of management: Empirical approach: Understanding of management develops from the study and analysis of cases and from a comparative approach.  Interpersonal Behaviour Approach: Study of management should be based on interpersonal relations. Group Behaviour Approach: Closely related to the interpersonal behaviour approach, but centred on studying the behavioural pattern of members and groups in an organization.  Decision Theory Approach: Rational decision making is the ...

The Nameless

Image
Photo by  Jonatán Becerra  on  Unsplash We speak of her from time to time  I hear of her likes, her loves, her cruelties  Not once however Have I heard her name How many suns had to pass Before he forgot how to speak it How many sandstorms fought To erase the way it sounded Falling from his lips? What rivers carved Their way through rock What night fell In a silence that held And failed to end And what is the shadow that remains After they have both passed on  Casting gray 'cross memory's threshold Stark, mute, and nameless

Shades of Blue

Vengeance writ  In shades of blue  These cuts strike deep And ink bleeds through  The maelstrom fades Time slows to a halt  Anger crystallizing/ The better These wounds to salt  Would have grown Apart/ Memories dissolving  But the fields ran red With frozen hope shattering Cobalt calls/ Ruby restless A growl emanating from the depths Of ages past/ Of process thwarted And Azure shifts/ while Copper flows

Sleepless Eyes

Written December 19, 2010 A wind blows in from somewhere Fanning the tongues of an old flame Something stirs under the woodwork And I turn to look out the window The night seems to alight upon my window sill The thinnest strip of wind rushes through my hair Through this crack in the window Through this crack left open in my heart I wish I had the courage to get up From my vantage point on the couch This breath of air annoys me I must either open it to the fullest Or close it forever more The silence reigns supreme And my fingers against the keys pay obseiance As I gaze into the darkness That rushes past me I think of another pair of sleepless eyes Gazing back out at me

Jessica Jones and the Pointlessness of Talking to Boys

I adore Jessica Jones. The show and the character. In my opinion, it is hands down the best show in the entire Defenders universe. My TV tastes aren't usually shared by those in my immediate social circle - I have only to mention The Vampire Diaries,  for instance, for the eye rolling to start. This is partly because the women I'm friends with have no great interest in the fantasy/ sci-fi genres, and the friends I have that like fantasy/ sci-fi all seem to be men. As a result, men who like sci-fi now are, to me, the most infuriating species of all time. They will happily tick off their favourite shows - Supernatural (no women characters, except for when Jody Mills turns up) and  Stranger Things (aka this one girl is so much powerful than everything else so the ration of roughly 2:1 ratio is totes cool) are common faves. It's supremely rare to find a guy that has even heard of Once Upon A Time , let alone one who counts it among his faves. TVD  and Teen Wolf are scof...

How Do You Tell Your Friend It Was Non-consensual?

Image
CONTENT WARNING: RAPE, NON-CONSENT - DISCUSSION Photo by Isaiah Rustad on Unsplash I recently went through the unfortunate experience of having to sit a grown man down and explain to him why his sexual encounter had been non consensual, and what he should have really paid attention to. He was shocked at the allegation, but also, to my great relief, open to the conversation. He didn't deny it, didn't attempt to shift the blame, apologized profusely, and made it all better. Rape is now yet again at the forefront of our news cycle, and the outrage wave seems to be growing in strength. This time, it's because of a couple of high profile cases in which children were brutalized and murdered. Horrifying, yes. And predictably, everyone* is very vocally anti rape and anti child rape. *Everyone that isn't utterly disgusting by nature, or would like to think they aren't. Be that as it may, I'm yet again reminded of the hypocrisy that once led these outraged to blame t...

Ponytails On Round Faces

There is nothing quite like the feeling of knowing your childhood crush thought you were cute. Especially that they thought something about you was cute that you personally hated. There's nothing quite like having a childhood crush turn out to be sweet, soft spoken, generally adorable... if a little faffy. My ninth grade self is so proud, I swear. In fact, there is nothing in the world quite like polite boys. Boys who make time to consider your feelings and (!!) text back. Boys who are just... Kind. Just... Nice. Just... Okay, I'm crying now. #damaged #thebarislow There is also nothing quite like finding out Nivin Pauly is your aunt's neighbor. There is nothing like having friends who are friendly across decades, who do things for you without expecting anything in return even though maybe they don't even know you. Nothing like friends. Nothing like healing. Nothing like... Just generally feeling unburdened, lighter, un-anxious. Free of law school and law school ...

The Clamour of War

Ashes of Winter: Dancers In My Soul

Cruelty Wears the Guise of Fear

The funerals were over, and the last of the mourners had trailed away. They would go home, where food and drinks and lighter conversation awaited them. Catharsis. They all craved it, and laughter seemed the inevitable aftermath of a funeral. They'd wanted her to come with them, had wanted to hang around with her, anxious, sensitive to the fact that her pain were greater than anything they could feel. She'd wanted to stay, she'd wanted to be alone. Catharsis seemed too unrealistic a goal right now. She closed her eyes, plugged her headphones in and sat cross legged, leaning against the cemetery wall. Far enough away from the graves that distance would be felt, but still close - too close. It was hard to say how much time had passed - certainly the song had played itself in its loop quite a few times - when she felt something scuttle across her fingers. She hated insects. Wasn't used to them, hadn't grown up with them, was creeped out by most of them. She wait...

Ashes of Winter - Blossoms by the Road

Throwback: Confessions of a Bored Website Hit(Wo)Man

Written April 16, 2010 Boredom can do horrifying things to normal, well balanced individuals. Guess what it could do to me. * Type. Backspace. Type. Backspace. Type type type type. Backspace backspace backspace backspace backspace. * * Shit, I erased that word too. Damn.* *Retype* I guess you kinda get my point. =P So... 16 days after the Board Exams dropped off the horizon; Facebook is officially the most boring site on Earth. Orkut isn't even worth looking at, except twice everyday, just to ascertain that there are no scraps from the  Ex With The Eyes Like Chocolate.  Sleeping is totally out of fashion. Even good old day dreaming is met with impatience. (A first, even for me.) And the initial excitement caused by getting back onto MSN Messenger after 2 years, what with all the new settings and the cool new options...  ("OMFG!!! How'd you do that??? Ohmg that is SO DAMN COOL... man, I've really been missing out on MSN. Seriously, IS THAT A PIC...

"Why Doesn't She Leave?" Fighting the Abusive Relationship Hydra

Image
Source: Rawpixel.com Abusive relationships are insidious. No one comes at any sort of relationship thinking, "Well, this is going to be abusive, and I'm going to be okay with that." Instead, it starts out small. Maybe it’s displeasure at something or the other in the early honeymoon days of your relationship. Stuff that makes you think, "Well, I don't really mind giving this up," or, “it’s going to be good for me anyway.” Maybe you find reasons to justify the restriction. So what if you have to inconvenience yourself a little? You're probably in love. Nobody wants to really ruin that by starting a fight. And then it's three years later and you're hyperventilating because you're in the same room. It is very common, when speaking of abusive relationships, to place the onus of change upon the victim. People rarely stop to question the actions of an abusive person, or to take any steps to stop them. Leaving an abusive relatio...

Throwback: Getting Started (Femme Fatale)

Image
This was my first blogpost ever - way back in 2008. That blog is no longer public, but I figure I can transport some of those posts on to here. Note: It's been edited for terrible  sentence structure and internet lingo. That was a bad phase. We've all been there. And  I've added little notes from my present day reading of it, which leaves me in splits - those edits are in red. Hmm.. Look who's just jumped on the blogging bandwagon! Blogs have always been someplace for me to kill other people with my tales of sorrow and misery and whatnot.. [Dramatic, wasn't I?] Anyway, considering my addiction to writing n journals, let's just say I'm not too surprised. First off, I'm not exactly in the happiest of moods after my 10th board FIASCO. There aren't many other words that can describe it so well. [I can think of a.. No, actually, that describes it pretty well.] I mean, come on. After 10 whole years of prep, when almost everyone on earth gets bett...
